Big and Small Concept PDF Activities

When teaching children the concept of "big" and "small" consider making it a fun hands-on, sensory experience to bring abstract concepts to life. You can begin with a "Size Scavenger Hunt" to help the children learn to make visual comparisons in the real world; they can locate a large pillow and a small book, a big spoon and a small fork, etc.

To be more creative, you can have a playdough game or blocks game to have the children build a "big" tower and a "small" house at the same time. These kinds of physical activity serve to reinforce their understanding of scale and proportion, and help develop their critical thinking skills in sorting out the world around them through play. You can view the activities in the worksheets below.
